Countrywide Lampshade makers based in Hertfordshire and The Cotswolds

Yarn Hill is a collaboration between two sisters, Ann Woolgrove and Lynn Hampton and takes its name from the small hill in their childhood home in Oxfordshire. Sharing an eye for perfection and detail (typical Virgos!) they decided to pool their creative skills to provide a traditional service, which is disappearing from the high street. Handmade, soft tailored lampshades are an almost forgotten luxury and crafting them is a dying art.

Trained in Design and Soft Furnishing at Warwick College, Ann established her own interior design company, ‘Ann Woolgrove’. For over 20 years she has honed her creative skills to interpret clients’ individual requirements. She is now expanding this service to include the making of handmade lampshades.

Studying Art and Dressmaking at A Level confirmed Lynn’s passion for the creative arts and she went on to study Clothing Design and Production Management at London College of Fashion. Evening courses in soft furnishings awoke her to the potential for creativity and individuality in reviving the disappearing art of hand making lampshades.
